One person dead after being hit by GO train near Burlington station

It's not clear when the trains are expected to run regularly again

One person is dead after being hit by a GO Train at approximately 10:45 a.m. Suzan Challis for NewmarketToday

A person was hit and killed by a GO Train close to Burlington Station at approximately 10:45 a.m.

The incident occurred just east of the station, near Guelph Line, where the person was on the tracks. The incident is still under investigation.

Trains on the Lakeshore West line are not able to move through the area, and GO Transit has modified the route for the time being. Buses are being provided between Appleby and Aldershot, bypassing Burlington. A train running once per hour is also running between Appleby and West Harbour.

It is not clear when the trains are expected to resume regular activity.
