COWAN, Samuel Paul

February 15th, 1931 - April 28th, 2024

Paul died at Carpenter Hospice, Burlington. He was husband of the late Sheila Cowan and father of Carol Hobbs (Ajax), Gillian Smith (Costa Rica), Cameron Cowan (Comox, BC), Kathryn Cowan (Toronto), and Emily Payandeh (Toronto). He was grandfather to Terry and Danny Smith (Waterloo), Neil Crysler (Toronto), Naomi and Oliver Payandeh (Toronto).

Paul grew up in Kingston and was in the Fort Henry guard. He worked at Avro Canada and with the Flight Research branch of the National Research Council before beginning teaching in Bowmanville in 1954. His career ended with retirement as a principal with the Peel Board of Education in 1988. Paul and Sheila travelled coast to coast in North America as well as several European ventures. They particularly enjoyed Moscow, Bermuda and the Island of Rhodes.

At Paul’s request there will be no service and cremation has already taken place. Should you wish to make a donation in Paul’s memory, Carpenter Hospice in Burlington provided exceptional care to him in his final days.
