Blaze Pizza shuts down its Burlington location

Blaze Pizza, which started in California, has a handful of other locations in Canada

A blaze has been extinguished in Burlington … so to speak.

Five years after it opened with great fanfare, Blaze Pizza at Burlington Centre has permanently closed its doors.

Efforts to reach company officials for comment weren’t immediately successful on Thursday.

The company’s sign has been removed from the building at Burlington Centre, and its windows are covered in paper. A sign posted in the window confirms its closure.

The location opened in February 2019, giving away free personal-size pizzas to anyone who visited, and agreed to follow Blaze on Instagram, 'X', or Facebook, on its second day of business.

Burlington isn’t the only Blaze Pizza franchise to be shut down. According to the company’s website, two other Ontario pizzerias are also closed – one in Toronto and the other in Guelph.

The website provides no information about when the locations formally shut down, but Burlington's closed on July 23.

Four other Ontario locations remain open, including one in Oakville.
