The City of Burlington has been ranked as the fifth best place to live in Canada by MovingWaldo, a website that offers services to make moving easier.
The list was released earlier this year, and details the top six places to live in Canada, ranking the locations based on a study of the amount and severity of crime in the area, affordability of renting and housing and feedback from people who moved to the area about how the quality of life is.
Burlington is one of the safest places to live in Canada, with a Crime Severity Index of only 31.04m. A rating of 70 on the index is considered to be low crime severity.
The city is one of the more expensive places to live on MovingWaldo’s list, with housing and rental prices nearly triple that of Edmunston, N.B.., which is one of the most affordable cities to live in Canada.
MovingWaldo noted that Burlington was an ideal city for people looking for professional opportunities or a fresh start in a new place.
“Many locals have noted Burlington’s quality, multiple amenities and welcoming community, making it easy for anyone to integrate,” the article reads. “Residents can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking the famous Niagara Escarpment or taking a walk along the Waterfront Trail on the shore of Lake Ontario.”
The list ranked Wellington Country, Ont., Oak Bay, B.C., LaSalle, Ont. and Levis, Que. higher than the City of Burlington, with Edmunston, N.B. placing in sixth.
Burlington has consistently been ranked as one of the top places to live in Canada by outlets such as MovingWaldo, MoneySense and Macleans.
