The Appleby Line Street Festival returns to Burlington on Sunday, Sept. 22, with this year’s event promising to be bigger than ever before.

Live music, vendors, food trucks and more will be at the local festival, which will take place on Appleby Line between Fairview Street and New Street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and organizers for the event are looking forward to the biggest festival yet.

“With the tremendous success last year, we want to continue on this path of success,” Cornelius Sawatzky, a Committee Volunteer for the festival, said. “The overall festival is a very similar format to last year, with a few notables. We have almost 150 vendors and sponsors participating this year, which is the highest we have ever had and exceeding our expectations.”

The Appleby Line Street Festival’s main sponsor, Burlington Pediatric Dentistry, is celebrating 10 years of business this year and is sponsoring the kids zone play area, complete with face painting, an obstacle course and a bouncy castle.

Around 7,000 people attended the Appleby Line Street Festival in 2023, and organizers are expecting a similar turnout this year.

On top of the record number of vendors and sponsors attending this year, there will also be live performances from several local bands. Burlington band NO IDEA will be playing at the beer garden, and Municipal Man Music, Five Points Road, Lucky Maggie, The Burlington Concert Band and a variety of buskers will also perform at the festival. The Burlington Teen Tour Band will march and perform at the event at 2 p.m.

“As organizers, we are thrilled with the enthusiasm and participation of our sponsors and vendors,” Sawatzky said. “We are looking forward to a spectacular, family fun event to connect with our neighbours and meet new neighbours.”

Appleby Line will be closed to traffic from Fairview Street to New Street for the duration of the festival.
