The guest speaker for the evening will be a familiar face - and voice - to many. David Vollick, who has lived in Burlington for more than 50 years, is Burlington's town crier. He is the past-president of the Ontario Guild of Town Criers and has won several awards at the International Town Criers competition.

Vollick spent his working career in the pulp and paper industry, in the corrugated cardboard sector. He worked in many areas, including testing, sales and technical support.

In retirement, he became involved with the 1906 Freeman Station restoration project, first as part of the hands-on construction crew and later as a member of the board of directors.

In addition to Vollick's presentation, the session will feature a short annual general meeting for the election of the new BHS board and the presentation of the year's financial report.

All are welcome to attend the public meeting and AGM. It takes place Monday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Room at the Burlington Central Library (2331 New St.).
