Oakville North-Burlington MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos sent a letter to MAD to offer her support for their movement.

Oakville North-Burlington MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos has joined both Burlington City Councila and the Millcroft Against Bad Development (MAD) group in petitioning Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Paul Calandra to stop the development planned for Millcroft Golf Course.

In a letter addressed to Calandra and also sent to Premier Doug Ford, Triantafilopoulos stated that she disagreed with the Ontario Land Tribunal’s (OLT) decision to allow the development in a green space that acts as a stormwater management area on a floodplain, and that the development should not be allowed to proceed if both the council and thousands of residents are against it.

The letter requests a Ministerial Zoning Order (MZO) from Calandra, which would protect the majority of the golf course from being developed. Triantafilopoulos said that the OLT made a 'profoundly disappointing decision' by ignoring the community and city council's opposition to the development.

The City of Burlington also passed a motion on July 16 to request that the Ontario government issue an MZO on the golf course, and MAD currently has more than 7,000 signatures from Burlington residents on a petition to prevent the development.
