Getting around town will take a little extra planning over the next few days, due to some special events and local road closures.

Filming continues on the west side of the city today and tomorrow (Nov. 9 and 10) between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., with North Shore Blvd. West closed between Boothman Avenue and Daryl Drive. According to the City of Burlington website, traffic will be detoured (with help from Halton Regional Police officers) along Boothman Avenue, Hendrie Avenue and Daryl Drive. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.

Remembrance Day

On Friday morning, Nov. 11, road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect in the downtown area to accommodate the Remembrance Day procession and service.

There will be no on-street parking on Brant Street, between Baldwin and Pine streets, between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Vehicles parked along the parade route risk being ticketed or towed. Parking will be available at the Waterfront Garage (414 Locust St.).  Walking or cycling to the area is encouraged.

The Remembrance Day procession and service take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Road closures begin at 10 a.m., and include:

  • Brant Street between Baldwin Street and Pine Street. Detour on Victoria Avenue.

  • Ontario Street between Locust Street and Brant Street.

  • Locust Street between Elgin Street and Ontario Street.

  • Baldwin Street between Hurd Avenue and Brant Street (10-11 a.m., and 12-1 p.m.).

Residents and businesses along the route can exit using John Street, Locust Street or Blathwayte Lane. Emergency Services access will be maintained at all times along the route.
