Burlington Green is planning plenty of ways to celebrate Earth Day this Saturday ― and beyond.
Some 200 participants have registered for the Community Tree Planting at Millcroft Park (4250 Millcroft Park Dr.). The event will include opening remarks at 9:30 a.m. by Mayor Marianne Meed Ward and a blessing provided by WhiteEagle. The rain-or-shine event is expected to finish up at about 11:30 a.m..
Local residents can also get involved at the BurlingtonGreen Eco-Hub headquarters from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to a beach litter/butt blitz, there will be a guided tree walk at 1:30 p.m. and the Repair Cafe will be offering their service indoors (rain or shine) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additional activities include pollinator seed-ball making, bird-friendly displays/resources and more.
E-waste drive Saturday, May 13
Burlington Green, along with crew members from the Electronic Recycling Association, will be at the Burlington Centre parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept computer and cell phone electronics; a series of Terracycle Zero Waste bins will be available to accept waste items not currently accepted in Halton Region’s recycling program.
Click here to find a complete list of items that will be accepted.
Volunteers from the Burlington Repair Cafe will also be on hand during the e-waste collection event to help community members with simple repairs to household items to give them a new lease on life.
