Pipes, kilts and live music mark the return of Burlington Runners Club 40-year-old tradition

There was a Scottish theme in downtown Burlington this morning (Jan. 22), as hundreds of runners and walkers took to the streets for the Robbie Burns Race.

The 8 km event, hosted by the Burlington Runners Club, started and ended at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, where participants were also treated to some live entertainment.

While the Robbie Burns Race has been a tradition in Burlington for over 40 years, this was the first in-person event since 2019 due to restrictions during the pandemic.

The top finishers this year were Hamilton's Max Turek, who finished first with a time of 23:13, and Toronto's Miles Avalos, who placed second with a time of 24:32. Rachel Hannah of Port Elgin was the first female racer to cross the line, with a time of 28:05.
