April 7th, 1931 - September 5th, 2024
Arthur Robert "Bob" Minson, aged 93 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 5, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris; sons, David (Sherry) and Derek; and daughter, Lindsay (Harry). Cherished Papa and Grandad to Meghan (Justin), Steven (Shannon), Jonathan, Brett and Cameron (deceased). Great-Grandad to Joseph. Both sisters, Valerie and Pauline, are predeceased.
Bob was born in Hove, Sussex, England, April 1931. After completing his compulsory military service during the Korean conflict, Bob attended Goldsmith College (London University), where he obtained his teachers degree. He taught school at Peckham/Ramsgate before immigrating to Canada in 1955, teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, grades 1-8, in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1956 he changed careers and joined the Royal Exchange Group of Insurances in Vancouver. It was there that he met his wife, Doris. He held various positions in Montreal (twice), Calgary and Winnipeg, before retiring at Branch Manager Toronto in 1993.
On his retirement, he and Doris enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren, along with many good times at their cottage on Otter Lake near Parry Sound. They travelled extensively through Europe and enjoyed many golfing vacations in the US.
