Clare Margaret Penfold, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Born April 11, 1946, Clare lived a beautiful life filled with love, friendship and happiness.

Clare is survived by her children, Kim and Mandi Penfold, and grandson, Ryder.

Clare spent 41 proud years working for Suncor, where she grew and maintained many dear friendships. As a leader, mentor and friend, she took much pride in working with her colleagues and watching them grow into the great professionals they are today.

Beyond her career, Clare spent the last 20 years, heavily involved with St. Raphael’s Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Her work, fellow volunteers and, most importantly, the people and families she positively impacted, meant a great deal to her. She loved her time there and the legacy of support it created.

Clare will always be remembered for her unbelievable kindness, her will of steel, and her generosity for those she loved and those who needed a helping hand. Her positive outlook on life, her compassionate strength and definitely her beautiful smile will be missed by all.

We couldn’t have asked for a better mom, granny, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

The family wants to thank all of Clare’s friends for helping her through her illness. You made a world of difference! The family would also like to thank the special people who work and volunteer at Carpenter Hospice. It was a wonderful and comforting atmosphere for her final moments.
