October 2nd, 1933 - August 31st, 2024
It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sigrid on August 31, 2024 in her 91st year. Loving wife of Horst for nearly 66 years. Cherished mother of Olav, treasured mother-in-law of Sharryn, beloved grandmother of Matthew. Sigrid is predeceased by her parents, her sister Gerlind and many close friends and extended family. She is survived by her loving brother Wolfhard.
Sigrid had incredible spirit and strength and lived a full life, sharing many adventures with her partner Horst. Her caring and devotion to Horst was admirable and inspiring. She was blessed to have a circle of dear friends with whom she celebrated decades of memorable occasions. She was a people person, loved music, dancing and the performing arts. She shared her unique talents and dynamic personality as a German language teacher, acting in and directing the German theatre in Toronto, and guiding tours for German visitors across Canada and the USA. She was appreciated for her loving kindness, thoughtfulness, joy for life and boundless energy.
Sigrid was an amazing woman who made a lasting impression and she will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Sigrid’s life will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Visitation from 12-1 p.m., with a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. followed by a catered Reception.
