Public meeting July 9 likely to hear displeasure over four-storey Aldershot townhouse development

A statutory public meeting has been scheduled on Tuesday, July 9, for a development application by Weston Consulting at 236 Plains Road East in Aldershot.

Located at the southwest corner of Plains Road East and Shadeland Avenue, the application - which staff are supporting - proposes:

• a four-storey condominium townhouse block consisting of six units
• an amenity area of 523 square meters and
• 14 parking spaces, with access from Plains Road East via a two-way condominium road on the west side of the proposed townhouses

A Zoning Bylaw Amendment is required to permit the townhouse development with a maximum height of four-storeys, reduced yard setbacks, reduced landscape area, and a reduced landscape buffer.

The statutory public meeting will take place as part of the City's Committee of the Whole standing committee meeting which begins on July 9, at 9: 30 a.m.

Staff will be presenting a report recommending approval, with modifications and a Holding provision, of the development application. The report is available on the Burlington Council and Committee Calendar under the July 8 Committee of the Whole meeting agenda (Item #13.1).

A number of local residents have already expressed displeasure at the change, suggesting lack of privacy for their yards in the area. Several have sent written correspondence.
